Windstorm claims one life, destroys over 100 houses in Nasarawa

Windstorm has killed one, injured several others and destroyed over 100 houses in Agbashi community in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, on Wednesday, John Bako-Ari, Vice Chairman, Doma LG said the unfortunate tragedy occurred on Tuesday in the evening.
According to him, over one hundred residential houses were destroyed including the Agbashi Central mosque, part of Pilot Primary School Agbashi and several other public infrastructure.
“Is true that the windstorm destroyed over 100 houses including, mosque and Primary school, the incident happened yesterday in the evening,” he said.
Also speaking on the incident, Mr Anthony Oshinyeka, acting Chairman, Agbashi Development Association (ADA)
described the incident as unfortunate.
According to him, Bassa settlement in Iponu at the outskirt of Agbashi was badly affected as one man lost his life while seven others have also been injured.
Oshinyeka called on Government to urgently intervene to cushion the devastating effect on the distressed people of Agbashi community.
The Acting ADA chairman solicited immediate release of relief materials and medical aids by Government and spirited individuals to the affected communities.
