Women Christian Council Secretary, Dr. Mrs Mercy appointed All-African Churches anti-corruption Ambassador in Nigeria

The National Secretary, Women Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria (WOWICCN), Dr. Mrs. Mercy John has been appointed as the All-African Conference of Churches (AACC), Anti-Corruption  Ambassador in Nigeria.

The appointment was announced at the end of the annual session of the AACC held in Nairobi, Kenya over the weekend. 

While reacting to the apartment vide telephone conversation with Our Correspondent, She expressed her unreserved gratitude to the Conference for finding her worthy of the appointment. 

Mercy John pledged to take the appointment as a responsibility saddled on her to promote and propagate the gospel of God through honesty living and transparent dealings.

According to her, “I will be engaging various stakeholders to fight against deeply rooted corruption in all facets of human existence particularly in the Church which is expected to be an example to world” . 

The At-Corruption Ambassador lamented that, “unfortunately corruption  has also not spared the Religious leaders. I will strive to ensure accountability of public resources in the country”.

She further stressed the importance of wiping out corruption among Church leaders first and then other leaders in the country saying though that it is not going to be an easy task considering how deep it has eaten into the system. 

The All-African Conference of Churches was held from the 22nd to the 26th of August 2022 at the headquarters  in Nairobi, Kenya drawing participants from over 30 African Countries and was held under the theme: ‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition consider, others first’.
