The nationwide protest by Nigerians as a result of high cost of living began in Jos, Plateau state on a shaky note.
This is coming even as The Founder of Women for Peace, Security, and Social Inclusion, is cautioning against any form of violence actoss the country.
Leading protesters on Jos, Prophet Isa El-Buba said the protest was essentially highlighted the sufferings of the people with the government alleged silence of the plight of it’s citizens.
El-Buba who is the convener of the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria, IBBN, emphasised that there was every need for the reversal of some stringent government policies especially on frequent pump price increase of petroleum products and high cost of electricity among others.
On her part, Mrs. Tinu Alade Abiola, Founder of Women for Peace, Security, and Social Inclusion expresses profound gratitude to the over 4000 dedicated women who joined forces to amplify the call for peaceful protest and engagement dialogue across the country.
According to her in a statement signed by Felix Idowu, Mrs Abiola addressed:concerns raised in a viral video, clarifying that the recent sensitization program aimed to educate women on guiding their children away from violence. She emphasized that the concerns voiced were misrepresentations and assured that all needs indicated during the program were being addressed.
“Transparency and accountability are paramount, hence the NGO’s decision to handle financial entitlements directly rather than through coordinators. Mrs. Abiola expressed disappointment over baseless accusations that threaten the NGO’s reputation, reaffirming the organization’s unwavering commitment to uplifting Nigerian women.
“Our mission is clear: to prioritize the welfare of Nigerian women and ensure they receive the respect and support they deserve,” stated Mrs. Abiola. She urged patience as efforts continue to review the participant list, ensuring everyone receives their due rights and privileges,” she stressed.
She then called on all Nigerians to exercise their constitutional right to protest constructively and peacefully, reinforcing the importance of unity and non-violence in advocacy.
Before now, Joint patrols by security operatives are visible across major areas of Jos city and environs, with armored personnel carriers and Hilux vans conveying large numbers of security personnel.
