Work on N4.3bn first flyover bridge in North-east commences in Maiduguri

Construction works have taken off in earnest at the site of the N4.3 billion flyover bridge located at customs area Maiduguri to ease the high traffic flow in the
metropolis.
Flagging off the project by Governor Babagana Zulum, which was awarded to Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) on December 4, 2019 is expected to be completed in 18 months and that already the sum of N1.3 billion has been paid to the company, as 30% mobilization fees.
He said the policy focus of the State Government in 2020 is to review its commitments to rebuild and expand the roads network in the metropolis.
Hear him: “Today’s flag off is part of strategy for the development of township roads network.
“We’ll undertake the construction of Jiddari Polo, Mala
Kyari-Zannari-Gwozari road” including Jiddari Polo, Umarari Ngarnnam and Abuja Talakwa roads.
And assured that,the rebuilding of Pulka-Ngoshe and Monguno, Biu, Askira and Ngala Township roads should be completed this year as well as ensure work is carried out on 135km Maiduguri-Gambouru, Maiduguri-Banki and Damboa-Chibok-Mbalala roads,” said Zulum.
On another flyover bridge, he disclosed that “We’ve in the pipeline another flyover at the Post Office area and “With completion of these bridges; they will provide a new face lift In the metropolis without any gridlock of traffic, he equally urged the people to cooperate with the company, as heavy duty machineries at project site could cause inconveniences to motorists and pedestrians alike.
