Back2School Africa, a non governmental organization aiming to take children in Africa back to school to get education and achieve their dreams has called on the need to provide quality education to less-privileged in Nigeria and Africa by all possible means.
Founder of the NGO, Chukwuma Anklin Amadi made the call on Tuesday in an interview with our correspondent on the world Non governmental organization day commemorated every 27 day of February.
According to him, it is not late to secure the future of Africa through education as every African child deserve an opportunity to have access to quality education.
He explained that a day like this should be used to reflect on the place of non governmental organizations in the world in improving people’s quality of life and attracting succor for those going through one form of suffering or the other.
Mr. Amadi explained that, “In Back2School Africa, our vision is to return at least 20% children forced to drop out of school due to economic reason back to school and we have assisted more than 2, 000 disadvantaged children to gain access to education and supply school materials”.
According to him, World NGO Day is particularly significant as it provides a global forum to recognise and celebrate the vital role played by non-governmental organisations in addressing pressing social, environmental and humanitarian issues.
The Back2School Africa boss submitted that the NGO day presents an opportunity to acknowledge, commemorate, and collaborate with these organisations that play a crucial role in addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges.
“The day serves as a reminder of the critical role NGOs play in promoting sustainable development, protecting human rights, helping underserved areas, and bringing about positive change around the world.
“It’s an opportunity to honour the commitment, passion and importance of NGOs and their invaluable work in promoting a more just, caring and equitable world for all”, he said.
Anklin further explained that the strategies they use to achieve the goal of taking every African child back to school is advocacy.
“Events is a big part of our advocacy methods and we are doing a lot in Germany and Nigeria to create collaboration which is the best branch of advocacy.
“Another, is direct impact; it is one thing to advocate, it is another thing to translate it into impact by enrolling children out of school back to school”, the founder said.
The theme for World NGO Day 2024, “Building a Sustainable Future: The Role of NGOs in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” underscores the crucial role of NGOs in working towards a sustainable and equitable future.
