A former deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Dr. Obadiah Mailafia has accused some world powers of deliberately undermining the growth and development of Nigeria.

He spoke in Abuja at a colloquium to mark the 50th birthday of Kudla Satumari-Haske, Founder of Haske Foundation.

Though he didn’t mention names, he pointed out that these countries are sponsors on many negative things within Nigeria to stunt her development.

According to him, since advanced countries knew about the potentials of Nigeria, they are doing all it takes to make sure it those not development to compete with them and are envious.

Dr. Mailafia explained that apart from Madagascar and Seychelles, he had been to all other African country and knows what Nigeria has.

Besides, he noted that, he was Chief of Staff of Belgium-based 79-nation African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) and can authoritatively talk about Nigeria’s potentials.

However, the former CBN deputy governor said Nigerian leaders must take deliberate steps to develop the country as there are indications that with the right decisions and commitment, the country can become a world power in the second half of this century.
