Amidst condemnation of Yiaga for issuing a partisan report on Osun election, the camp of Gboyega Oyetola is now sharply divided over the handling of the election analysis report.
Insiders revealed that members of the legal team to the Governor are angry with the Governor’s political team for blowing the lid off the scheme by openly owning the Yiaga report, a development the lawyers considered injurious to their legal strategy at the election tribunal.
It was learnt that the legal team had targeted tabling the Yiaga report for admissibility as evidence during the full hearing of the petition to back up it claims of over-voting and alleged tampering with the BVAS machine.
Unconfirmed report even indicated that the legal team allegedly originated and sponsored the report as part of assets to justify the APC petition before the Tribunal.
The Chief Press Secretary to Oyetola however prematurely let the cat out of the bag by openly endorsing the report and going to the extent of declaring that Yiaga analysis confirms that his principal indeed won the July 16th election.
The media statement was reported to have thrown the legal team into disarray as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been alerted and is now going after Yiaga for becoming a tool in the hand of APC.
” There is serious internal wrangling. Yiaga was to be our joker. The young man messed up the whole plan by speaking on the subject. We can no longer use the report at the Tribunal”, a source close to the matter revealed.
Meanwhile, the development of the last two days have also revealed more facts about the Yiaga report as APC agents are confirmed as key actors within the Yiaga team.
Investigations showed that three analysts within the Yiaga team that produced the report are APC professionals one from Lagos, one from Ogun and another one from Osun.
Further checks showed that while the analysis was originally a sincere effort to appraise the election, the APC agents within the team skewed the outcome with more than 75 percent focus on Osun when the report is actually about both Osun and Ekiti states.
The Pro-APC agents in the team are directly linked to the insertion of the BVAS and PVC sections to deliberately validate the APC petition before the Tribunal in Osun state.
A member of Yiaga team who craves anonymity said donors are already looking towards internal review of the allegation of partisan bias in the report of the group.
” The European Union and other funders are checking out the veracity of the allegations. I think our errors including issuing a report on a matter before the Tribunal. The second is the close similarity between our report and APC petition before the Tribunal. The last one is our over-focus on Osun, leaving out Ekiti. We appear clearly like acting for APC”, the team member noted.
