Yobe IPAC commends YSIEC for conduct of free, fair LG elections

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yobe State Chapter, has Commended Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) for conducting free, fair, credible and acceptable local Government elections in the state.

The Chairman of IPAC Umar Adamu Jajere who disclosed this during an interview with some selected Journalist on Sunday in Damaturu, Yobe state capital.

He said the Local Government elections held across the 17 councils of the state between May-June, remain One of the most credible elections in the history of the state.

He described the election as one of the fairest in the history of the state, starting that the electorates conducted themselves well despite the political affliction.

According to him, the ongoing local government election was free, fair and credible, saying that, there was no rancour during the 17 local government areas and everybody was performing his duty peacefully.

He added that, ” I want to use this opportunity to inform you that, the election was duly acceptable by all political parties that participate in every election because that is the essence of a political party.

He urged the 17 newly elected Local Government Chairman to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots level.

” As the closest tier of government, you are expected to formulate policies and implement programmes that positively impact and improve the lives of the people in your respective local government areas.

The elections are over, and you are now leaders for all. Be fair and just to everyone, and focus on delivering development to every corner of the state.

The Almighty Allah chosen you for this responsibility, not because you are better than others, but because it pleases him. Use this opportunity to serve diligently.

He commended the state governor Mai Mala Buni, security agencies, stateholders and other political parties for their support and encourage people to choices for their leaders at grassroots level.

“The election was transparent, free and fair. We are happy with the result. I believe that everybody is also happy with it, we meets with all our IPAC members and agreed for the outcome of the elections before announcement” said Jajere

The chairman while reacting to a malicious and fabricated circular on social media platforms calling Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission to cancel local government elections

The state IPAC Chairman said the fake news/circular is entirely false and without any basis. The election is fair and credible.

The IPAC Chairman called on all Yobeans to disregard the purported circular and continue with their normal works and activities.

He urged the general public to be cautious of fake News and circulars, and always verify information through credible source before sharing.

Jajere noted that, Yobe State IPAC remains committed to promoting and protecting the rights and interests of the people.
