The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 6, Jonathan Towuru  has assured the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, (PHEDC), that they will continue to extend security coverage over their vital  power installations in the zone.

He gave the assurance when the managing director of PHEDC,  Dr Benson Uwheru called on the AIG in his office in Calabar to solicit sustained cooperation and security supports.

Towuru assured the power distribution company of Police partnership for a better service delivery.

He equally called on the peace loving people of the Zone to remain law abiding and report criminals/vandals to the Police.

Speaking earlier, Uwheru expressed happiness that unlike before their staff were no longer manhandled, harrassed or victimised, courtesy of police services.

A statement issued at the end of the visit by the Zone 6 PRO, Nelson Okpabi quoted PHEDC boss  as appealing to the police for continued cooperation and support.

During the visit, Uwheru  commended the police for helping to drastically reduce the harassment suffered by his men.

He called for continued partnerships with the Police for adequate security in power distribution within the Zone.

“We acknowledge the role of the Police in sustaining peace and security.  This has led to the near absence of incidence of victimization/harassment of our staff in the states within the Zone”, he said.
