Member of the House of Representatives representing Akko federal Constituency of Gombe State, Usman Bello Kumo has been accused of unfair treatment to Gona Emirate which is one of the three Emirates that make up the constituency.
The accusation was made by an electorate in the Emirate, Malam Idris Abubakar in a statement he issued to journalists in Gombe.
Idris Abubakar alleged that the Federal lawmaker in his recent distribution of empowerment items in December, 2021, meted out injustice to constituents in Gona Emirate .
According to him, the member allegedly gave out three cars, 15 motorcycles in Pindiga Emirate and three cars and 10 motorcycles in Kumo Emirate while his Gona Emirate got only one car without motor bikes.
He further claimed that the National Assembly member in addition to the vehicles, doled out huge sums of money in the two emirates but “gave a paltry sum of ‘only N800, 000 in Gona” .
Idris Abubakar who said that this had happened despite the numerical strength of the Emirate also claimed that Gona has the highest number of voters who represents 44.4 percent against the two others that share the remaining 55.6 percent.
Breaking down the number of voters according to the last 2019 polls, the Gona citizen asserted that Akko had 209,183 voters representing 44.4 percent, Kumo 70, 725 equivalent to 33.8 percent and Pindiga 45, 612 voters which is equal to 21.8 percent respectively.
He therefore called on the Federal lawmaker to address the injustice so that his people will feel that they are well represented at the National Assembly.
All efforts to get the lawmaker’s side of the story proved abbortive as at the time of filing in this report as he did not respond to the text and WhatsApp messages sent to his phone line by our correspondent.
