You’re on your own, threats can’t change our hearts, we’re sympathizers of APC – replies Party Chairman in Taraba over PDP’s-appointments

By Celestine Ihejirika, Jalingo

Some APC members in Taraba State have responded to its state party chairman, Barr. Ibrahim El-Sudi to stop empty threats over offer of political appointments by PDP-led administration of Governor Agbu Kefas.

According to a few of the party faithful who spoke to our correspondent on Tuesday on condition of anonymity admitted that though they were party members, the State Chairman should stop threatening members simply because of appointments by PDP government.

They however urged the state party chairman to focus on his law chambers, maintaining that he was on his own as no threat can change their hearts from accepting political offers from Taraba government, hence, they were bonafide indigenes of the state.

“Two years down the line, what have we benefited from Tinubu and his APC led federal government in Taraba? Our people at the national level both elected and appointees haven’t looked at us since after the 2023 election.

“Is it when APC members in Taraba state die before the party will rescue us from the present hardship and challenges,” they lamented bitterly.

However, the reactions followed early morning directive issued on Tuesday in Jalingo by Taraba State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) which directed the removal of its members who have accepted political appointment from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led state government of Governor Agbu Kefas, from the party register.

chairman of APC in the State, Barr. Ibrahim El-Sudi in a statement warned that any of its members who accept such an appointment without approval of the APC National Working Committee will not be spared.

“Our attention has been drawn to a spate of appointments given to numerous members of our party by the Governor of Taraba State, H.E DR. Agbu Kefas, without recourse to our party either at the state or national level.

“Our investigation and interaction with the National Working Committee and National Secretariat reveals that no approval was given by the National Working Committee of our great party to appoint any member of our great party to accept any appointment with Taraba State Governor or Government.

“By the provision of Article 9.5 of the APC Constitution as Amended 2022 which provides, membership of the party shall be terminated by death, resignation, expulsion and procurement of membership of another political party,” the state APC said.
