Youth need skills to be employable – NDE

Most Nigerian youth and women are unable to secure jobs because they do not have requisite skills.

The Director General of National Directorate, ( NDE ) Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo said in Kaduna that the directorate has a passionate heart to empower unemployed youths and women on skills acquisition.

The DG who was represented at the event by the acting Coordinator in Kaduna, Madam Victoria W. Dada, that it the Basic Non Apprentice Scheme , ( B-NOAS ) with the theme: Quick fix demand driven skills training and disbursement of resettlement of equipment to youths in Kaduna.

According to her, ” The NDE has trained and disbursed skills equipment to youths who completed it’s resettlement skills acquisition program.

” These youths are being provided with equipment to enable them to start their own business/workshops.” She said

Madam Vichese M. Dada said that the unemployment which has taken a new face globally has degenerated into worrisome proportions in and outside Nigera.
School leavers and graduate of Nigerian tertiary institutions appear to be most adversely bit by this development.

She said that the
Orientation of quick fix demand driven skills training and disbursement of resettlement of equipment to youths in Kaduna State is timely as the youth responded according.

NDE said that the NDE is mandated for training of unemployed persons especially youths and women in various vocational trades. The aim is to equip them with marketable and functional skills to enable them secure either wage or self employment.

One of the beneficiaries, Abdullahi Shuaibu said, ” I have been trained as a Computer operator and I have been given Computer and it’s peripherals to start a business center.”

The graduands have been taught, Tailoring, barbing, satellite installation, computer, car maintenance and electrical repairs.
