Youths empowerment: Council chairman partners vocational institute to create jobs

Mr Iliya Aliyu, Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, says his administration will collaborate with the state Vocational and Technology Institute to train youth and women on skills acquisition.
Aliyu stated this during a visit to the Executive Director of the Wing Commander Abdullahi Vocational and Technology Institute, Dr Daniel Ewuga in Lafia.
Aliyu, who was inaugurated earlier in the day after his election on Nov. 2, said that the journey to achieve a better life for the people of Nassarawa Eggon LGA had just begun.
He noted that the skills acquisition to empower the teeming youth and women of the area was the way to go.
The chairman, while seeking support and unity of purpose from the people of Nassarawa Eggon, said he was mindful of enormous tasks before him and was ready to tackle them head-on.
He thanked Gov. Abdullahi Sule and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in them and promised to deliver on the mandate of the people.
“We assure the people of Nassarawa- Eggon that we came prepared with deliverables for the betterment, progress, and development of Nassarawa Eggon LGA.
“As a people, we need to make a lot of sacrifices for today, for
tomorrow and for the generation to come. We can achieve our set goals for Nasarawa Eggon with unity of purpose, sacrifice, and support of the people, ” he stated.
Also speaking, Dr Ewuga, Executive Director of the institute said the partnership would birth thousands of job opportunities for people of the LGA.
The newly inaugurated Chairman, Vice-chairman, and the Secretary of Nassarawa Eggon LGA also paid a courtesy visit to the paramount Traditional ruler, the Aren Eggon, Retired Justice Ahmad Ubangari-Alaku to receive royal blessings.
