The Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, Hon. Moses Maihankali, has called on Tarabans to pray for successful administration of Governor Agbu Kefas and his team as we mark the 2025 Christmas.

In his felicitation message, Hon. Maihankali congratulated the Governor, His Deputy, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali and the entire Tarabans for their collective resolve in sustaining peace, stability and development in the state.

The Chairman commended Governor Kefas for what he described as his sterling, people-oriented leadership, noting that the administration has continued to demonstrate commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development.

He called on residents of the state to continue to support the present administration to enable it successfully deliver on its developmental agenda, particularly at the local government level where governance has a direct impact on the people.

Maihankali reminded Christians that Christmas, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, is a season that emphasizes love, sacrifice, and compassion. He urged them to use the festive period to reach out to the less privileged, the sick, and the downtrodden in society.

According to him, the yuletide should also serve as a time for sober reflection, renewed faith, and strengthened unity, as Christians promote the values of peace, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among all residents of the state.

The ALGON Chairman further appealed for peaceful celebrations across Taraba State and advised residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious in the interest of collective safety.

Also in a separate development Hon. Moses Maihankali, has affirmed his readiness to reposition the association for effective service delivery and stronger collaboration with the state government.

Maihankali, who also serves as Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Council, made the assertion during an interview with our correspondent in Jalingo, where he pledged to ensure proper coordination of ALGON activities across the state.

He stressed that the association under his leadership would work in harmony with the policies and development agenda of the Governor Agbu Kefas–led administration.

The ALGON Boss expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that he would not betray the trust. He called on council chairmen across the state to give him maximum support in order to collectively move the association forward.

Maihankali also lauded Governor Kefas for what he described as a historic milestone, noting that Taraba State has, for the first time, successfully transitioned from one elected local government council to another. He thanked the governor for granting local government chairmen the mandate to serve the people at the grassroots.

Meanwhile, the Council Boss has commended the state government over the ongoing construction of the Mararaba–Baissa–Abong road, saying the project has brought renewed hope to the people of Kurmi Local Government Area.

He revealed that communities in Kurmi are overwhelmed with joy following the remobilization of construction companies to the project site by Governor Agbu Kefas. He confirmed that work is progressing and urged host communities to cooperate fully with contractors to ensure timely completion in line with required standards.

He further praised the governor for having the welfare and aspirations of Kurmi people at heart, adding that the completion of the road would address long-standing transportation challenges and fulfill the yearnings of residents in the area.

According to him, the road project, when completed, will significantly boost economic activities and improve access to communities within Kurmi Local Government Area.
