Zamfara Commissioner of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Yazid, right with MD of NIRSAL, Kure

Zamfara State Government has said it is exploring agriculture entrepreneurship in a bid to mitigate the high rate of unemployment among the youths in the state.
The Commissioner of Commerce, Industry and Tourism in Zamfara State, Alhaji Yazid Shehu Danfulani, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) in Abuja.
He said part of the effort to drive the process of agric-based youth empowerment programme is to collaborate with NIRSAL towards exploring various entrepreneurship it provides.
“One of the first steps l am taking with the blessings of my boss, governor Bello Matawalle is a further boost to the governor’s entrepreneurship development by securing facilities from federal government agencies to our women and youth.
“My visit to NIRSAL is geared towards exposing our young men and women to the many benefits derivable through agriculture, don’t forget that in Zamfara, agriculture is our pride and our teeming youth are ever ready to participate in this sector of the economy, so with a little push and encouragement, Zamfara will continue to guarantee national food security and export potentials,” Yazid noted.
He said his meeting with NIRSAL boss was very fruitful and that very soon, the meeting will translate into positive actions in the state through numerous schemes.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing system for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) Micro Finance Bank, Abuja, (a subsidiary of Central Bank of Nigeria), Alh. Abubakar Abdullahi Kure commended the commissioner and Zamfara government for taking the step towards the agricultural entrepreneurship development programme.
Kure who said, this was the first time a commissioner was coming from Zamfara seeking partnership with his office for the empowerment of youth in the state assured to assist the government in all positive ways.
He added that a comprehensive framework will soon be unveiled in the State for the takeoff of various business entrepreneurs.
