Zuru Chief Imam’s family suffers great loss as Hajiya Rakiya dies at 103


Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.
The death has occurred of Hajiya Rakiya Abdullahi Liman Ma’aji, the last surviving elder in the family of the first Chief Imam of Zuru, Mallam Abdullahi Liman Ma’aji.
Late Hajiya Rakiya died at the age of 103 years at her residence along the old market Zuru after a protracted illness in the early hours of Saturday, 3rd January 2026.
The news of Hajiya Rakiya Abdullahi Liman Ma’aji’s passing is a big loss to the family and community.

This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor.

She lived a remarkable life, dedicating herself to the unity of the large family family that cut across Zuru and Yauri emirates, and will be deeply missed.
Late Hajiya Rakiya who was fondly called Gwaggon Yara, was the immediate younger sister to late Alhaji Hamidu Ladan Zuru, the first Danmasanin Zuru who also a younger brother to the late Chief Imam of Zuru Alhaji Muhammadu Liman Tanko.
She was buried at the Jarkasa cemetery, shortly after the funeral prayers.
May Allah SWT grant her soul peace and reward her good deeds with Jannah firdausi.
Condolences to the family were being received, especially to her sons, daughter, and the entire Zuru community.
May her legacy of love and unity continue to inspire generations.
