Outgoing Commissioner for Finance in Cross River State, Asuquo Ekpenyong jr has concluded a state-wide governorship consultation tour at Odukpani Local Government Area of the state.
Ekpenyong visited the 18 local governments of the state where he met with youth groups, traditional chieftains, market women, and the academia.
He told them he has what is required to scale through the processes and was ready to contest the governorship.
He assured them that he would positively impact on governance in the state if the electorate vote for him.
Speaking in Odukpani where Ekpenyong concluded his three weeks consultation tour, the member representing Bekwarra /Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency of the State in the House of Representatives, Legor Idagbo said he has given his support to the state governor, Prof Ben Ayade who has spoken in favour of returning political power to Cross River Southern Senatorial District.
This is even as the state APC leadership has kicked against zoning to south, saying guber aspirants from any parts of the state are free to declare interest to succeed Governor Ayade next year.
Idagbo said he has given his supports to power shift to the Southern Senatorial District of the State in the coming Gubernatorial contest in the 2023 General Elections, maintaining that Ekpenyong qualifies for the APC governorship ticket.
Idagbo who was part of the consultation/sensitization tour, said it would not speak well of their integrity to deny the south the opportunity now that it is due them.
He spoke of need to be fair politically to all segment of the state, especially as the governor had spoken much in their favour.
He urged the people to ensure they seize the opportunity of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) Exercise to register to vote for their choice of leaders in the elections.
