A PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Taraba State, Chief Victor Bala Kona said he was unaware of any anointed candidate in the state as far as 2023 general election was concerned.
Kona who made the disclosure in his declaration speech Wednesday in Jalingo, insisted that censuses arrangement was optional, adding that imposition of unpopular candidate to the party will jeopardized the party’s chances of winning in the general election.
According to him, the party has remained in the leadership position of state for 24 years and wondered why the forthcoming 2023 general election was raising lots of dust.
“We are certainly going through daunting challenges in every aspect of our lives, and it is equally true that such peace must be deeply rooted in love for one another to promote unity and prosperity among our people. This could only be achieved when we put away our differences, ensure justice, equity and give sense of belonging to every Taraban regardless of ethnic or religious background”, he said.
He, however, assured that if given the opportunity to ascend the seat of governor in 2023, his administration will run an all inclusive government that will stand the test of time with focus on key development areas such as education, agriculture, health, infrastructure and provision of security of lives and property in line with the party policy.
’Taraba is blessed with abundant resources both in human and material terms, we have no business with poverty, all that is required is the political will to harness those abundant resources for the betterment of the state’’, Kona stressed.
