33-year-old man bags 2 months imprisonment for stealing motorcycle
A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced one Kabiru Lawal, to two months imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle.
Kabiru, 33, who lives opposite Haikim Palace, Karmo, was arraigned on charges bordering on stealing.
The judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Maiwada also warned the convict to be of good behaviour and to desist from committing crimes after serving his punishment.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, had informed the court that one Shemu Isah, a neighbour of the convict reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station on June 19.
Ukagha told the court that on the same date at about 10:30 p.m. the convict and the complaint, rode on the complainant’s motorcycle used for commercial transportation from Dei-dei to Idu Karmo.
She said that on the way, the convict brought out a knife and inflicted injuries on the complaint’s neck and left hand.
Ukagha explained that in the process the convict snatched the complainant’s motorcycle and fled the scene to an unknown destination.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the convict was arrested and admitted committing the offence, but the motorcycle was yet to be recovered.
The offences contravened Sections 79, 246 and 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
