A team of foreign observers monitoring Governorship and State Assembly Elections in Nasarawa State has said they are satisfied with the adherence to electoral procedures at the polling units across the state.

Abraham Shima Kwaghfan, National Coordinator, NAUVO

The team was led by, Ambassador, Gen. Adeoye Lonsdale Oladeji, (rtd) of International Police Chaplain Sustainable Development and Law Enforcement, and Ambassador Abraham Shima Kwaghfan, who doubled as National Coordinator, National Association of Uniform Voluntary Organization, NAUVO, and Executive Secretary, Forensic Guards of Nigeria.

“What we are here to do is to see that the rules and regulations of this election are being observed. And so far, I am happy to say that what am seeing here is good” Gen. Adeoye remarked.

Comparatively, Adeoye noted that there is clear improvement in terms adherence to rules and regulations that drive the process from what was obtainable during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections held on the 25th February, adding that it is commendable, INEC has yielded to calls for improvement.

“That time, electoral materials couldn’t come out early, and even when they came, there were one or two problems with the BVAS machines. But, today (Saturday) I was shocked, as early as 7:00 am, electoral materials were set, waiting for people to come.

“I will tell you that right from Abuja, as we were coming up to Nasarawa, we passed through many polling units, what we are seeing is very impressive. Voters don’t have to stay till night because of early accreditation and early commencement of voting,” he stated.
