ACCI newly inaugurated President, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has gotten a new leadership with the swearing in of Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, as President for a three-year tenure.
This followed the expiration of the tenure of Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Al-mujtaba and some executives.
Also sworn in at the 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the chamber on Thursday in Abuja were Professor Adesoji Adesugba, 1st Deputy President, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, 2nd Deputy President, Aisha Ado Abdullahi, Vice President (Legal), Bode Thompson, Vice President, (Agriculture) and outgoing Director General, (ACCI), Dr. Victoria Akai as council member among others.
A former President of the chamber and Minister in various ministries, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, performed the swearing in ceremony.
In his inaugural speech, the newly sworn in President, Chief Obegolu, said together with others they should embark on a journey that fortifies its foundation and steers them towards a future brimming with accomplishments, recognition, and shared prosperity.
He acknowledged that over 37 years, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been a pillar of economic growth, a hub for trade facilitation, and an advocate for members and its commitment to excellence and service has led to setting unparalleled benchmarks within our industry.
Chief Obegolu noted that ACCI has played a pivotal role in promoting trade and facilitating business partnerships and trade missions, exhibitions, and business matchmaking events and have connected members with local and international counterparts, expanding their reach and contributing to the economic development of the region and Nigeria.
Looking forward, the president outlined some focus. It includes, improving value proposition, encouraging participatory membership, infrastructural development, professionalizing the Secretariat, repositioning our brand, legislative and policy advocacy, ease of doing business and expanding market opportunities.
He pointed that the President and Executive Committee of ACCI, Chair and members of Governing Councils of the 4 Centers and the Cooperatives, and Chairman and members of the standing Trade Groups would be inaugurated on February 8, 2024 and constituted a planning Committee for the purpose with Engr. Dozie Mbanefo as Chairman.
Members of the committee are Dr. Agada Elachi, SAN, Dr. Sunday Kayode, Dr. Chijoke Ekechukwu, Chief Abiodun Odunsanwo, Chief Peter Ozoagu, Aisha Ado Abdullahi, Chidozie Okoye and Dr. Ilyasu Gashinbaki.
Others are Ezenwa Anumnu, Director General, all heads of Centers and General Counsel would Secretary while Mercy Samson and Bolade would provide secretarial support.
