Arising from the maiden meeting of First Term Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Birnin Kebbi, 17 States Chief Executives, pledge their unflinching loyalty to Present Bola Tinubu for his return into office in 2027.

Host Governor Nasir Idris while reading the communique, said they were persuaded that the reforms being undertaken by President Bola Tinubu were necessary in stabilising the economy, restore public finance, attract investment, strengthen national productivity, expand infrastructure, deepen food security and secure a more sustainable future for the Nigerian people.

He said the support of the First Term Governors for President Tinubu was not based on politics alone, but on conviction that Nigeria required courageous leadership, policy continuity, stronger federal-state collaboration and a development path that rewards production, enterprise, agriculture, innovation and hard work.

“The question is not whether the journey has been difficult, it has been difficult ; the real question is whether Nigeria should abandon reform midway or stay the course, correct what needs correction, expand relief for the vulnerable, and allow the foundations being laid to produce lasting results.

“We note the challenges of insecurity that have lasted over two decades, we commit ourselves individually and collectively to the preservation of lives and property of Nigerians”, Governor Idris added.

Talking about Security challenges, the forum condemned the abductions of children, kidnapping of innocent citizens, attacks on schools, killing of vulnerable persons and all acts of terror and criminality that undermine education, economic life, public confidence and national peace.

He further stated: “We commit to the pursuit of stronger collaboration among the Federal Government, State Governments, Security Agencies, Traditional Institutions, Community Leaders, School Authorities and local intelligence network to secure schools, protect communities, rescue victims, prosecute perpetrators and restore confidence”.

The First Term Governors expressed concern about reported attacks, killings and hostility directed at Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa, urging the appropriate authorities to investigate the matter and ensure justice in accordance with the Law and Diplomatic Norms.
