Consultations by His Excellency, Dr Phillips Salawu in the quest to become the substantive National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continue to receive wider acceptance from the party’s critical stakeholders.

Consultations by His Excellency, Dr Phillips Salawu in the quest to become the substantive National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continue to receive wider acceptance from the party’s critical stakeholders.

Dr. Salawu, a former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, a former BoT Member of the PDP and the pioneer National Director of Finance of the PDP, has been consulting with party leaders in Nigeria ahead of the party’s selection of a substantive National Chairman.

The position is currently been constitutionally zoned to the North Central Geo-Political Axis in the Party’s existing Balance of Power Arrangement.

On Sunday 23 June, 2024, Dr. Salawu was at the Abuja residence of His Excellency, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, a former Governor of Enugu State, a former National Chairman of the PDP and a critical PDP stakeholder from the South-East Geo-Political Zone.

Also, on Wednesday, 26 June, 2024, Dr. Salawu’s National Chairmanship consultation campaign, in company of his Political Advisor, Dr. Aminu Yakudima, was at the Abuja residence of His Eminence, Elder Statesman, Chief (Dr.) Edwin Clark, OFR, CON, to intimate him of his ambition to vie for the National Chairmanship portfolio of the PDP.

Thereafter, Chief Clark lauded his qualities and prayed for him as a father to achieve his ambition.

On Thursday 27 June, 2024, in continuation of his PDP National Chairmanship consultation campaign, Dr. Salawu also in company of his Political Advisor, Dr. Aminu Yakudima, was at the Abuja residence of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.

Hajiya Inna Maryam Ciroma, OON, centre, a former Minister for Women Affairs, a former National Women Leader of PDP and a Critical Stakeholder of the NorthEast PDP when Dr. Salawu, left and his his Political Advisor, Dr. Aminu Yakudima visited the women leader in Abuja as part of consultation to vie for the position of substantive National Chairman.

Turaki, SAN, was a former Minister for Special Duties, a former Secretary of BoT of PDP, and a critical stakeholder of the party in the NorthWest Geo-Political Zone.

Dr. Salawu intimated him of his ambition to vie for the National Chairmanship Portfolio of the party.

On Sunday 30th June 2024, Dr. Salawu was at the Abuja residence of Hajiya Inna Maryam Ciroma, OON, a former Minister for Women Affairs, a former National Women Leader of PDP and a Critical Stakeholder of the NorthEast PDP; on same mission.

Dr. Salawu had paid a similar visit to the retired Naval-General, Chief Olabode George, a Principal Stakeholder from the South-West Geo-Political zone, and a former military Governor of Ondo State at his Abuja residence on Wednesday, 19 June, 2024.

Similar visit was paid to His Excellency, Senator David Mark, the former Senate President and a critical Stakeholder of the North Central PDP.

He had earlier consulted with former Jigawa State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Sule Lamido, the former Kano State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekerau.
