One of the contractors handling the construction of the Kebbi State Ultramodern Secretariat, Engr Manir Musa Jega says awarding contracts to Indigenous Contractors would strengthen the value of Naira and thereby boost the economy.

Engr Jega who was speaking to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi pointed out that indigenous contractors would use local workforce and materials for the projects without necessarily needing the foreign currency that often crashed the naira when a foreign contractor was chosen for the job.

He therefore thanked Governor Nasir Idris for the patronage, saying the gesture not only had it boosted the capital base of the companies but had gone a long way in displaying high level of patriotism from the Governor, urging other State Chief Executives in the country to follow his footsteps to indigenously develop the nation.

On the position of work of his company at the site, Engr Jega said his firm, MTECH Universal Concepts, had reached ninety eight percent completion stage, describing the remaining two percent to snagging where minor work would be carried out to maintain the aesthetics of the edifice.

He noted that he had worked diligently at the site to justify the confidence Governor Idris reposed in the indigenous contractors, revealing that with the pace of work at Secretariat the job would be completed within the next fourteen days and would be handed over to the State Government.

Recall that the ultramodern secretariat was initially awarded to a foreign firm but was abandoned for twelve years until the coming into office of Governor Nasir Idris who reawarded it to two indigenous companies, ZBBCC Nig Ltd and MTECH Universal Concept last year and was set for completion in a couple of weeks.
