Senator Lalong, others call for prayers as Dr. Yilwatda assumes office as Humanitarian Affairs Minister

Leader of the APC in Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Lalong has called for prayers, support and cooperation for the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshewe who was inaugurated into the Federal cabinet by President Bola Tinubu.

Senator Lalong who led other prominent sons and daughters of Plateau State and other Nigerians to a reception in honour of the Minister in Abuja, said the appointment of Dr. Nentawe is a point of unity for Plateau State as he is expected to serve the people irrespective of their differences.

This was contained in a statement by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Special Adviser on Media to Senator Lalong.

He said what the new Minister needs now is prayers because of the enormous responsibilities before him which require a lot of composure and hardwork.

Lalong again expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for trusting a son of Plateau with the responsibility for addressing poverty and humanitarian challenges across the country.

The Senator assured Dr. Nentawe that he will not only receive support of APC family alone, but that of entire Plateau people who are looking forward to benefitting from his ministry.

Former Governor of Plateau State Senator Joshua Dariye also congratulated Dr. Nentawe and described his appointment as an opportunity for unity, progress and development in Plateau State.

He asked the people to pray for the minister and be patient with him as not everyone will receive contracts, appointment or any patronage.

Senator Istifanus Gyang also congratulated Dr. Nentawe and prayed for his success.

Dr. Nentawe thanked the people of Plateau State particularly the APC led by Senator Lalong for support and prayers, assuring that he will not let the President and the nation down.

Meanwhile, Senator Lalong has received APC candidates at the last Local Government elections who visited him at his Abuja residence.

He appreciated their doggedness and resilience in mobilising members and supporters who came out to show great support depsite the antics of the government which went contrary to the rule of the elections.
