The Kebbi State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Abdullahi Umar Faruk, says Governor Idris has earmarked about 41 billion naira in the 2025 Appropriation Bill presented to the State Assembly for the construction of the much desired Dabai-Mahuta-Koko road.
He said the decision to carry out the construction was arrived at after receiving the final document that authorized the transfer of the project by the Federal Government to Kebbi State as approved by President Bola Tinubu.
Engineer Faruk who was speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi said the project which was awarded in 2021 was poorly funded thereby stalling the progress of work, pointing out that with the project now in the hands of the state government it would be completed in time to ease the movement of goods and services.
The Commissioner revealed that engineers from the Ministry had evaluated the project and would soon open bidding for suitable contractors, revealing that the project would be divided into three sections and be carried out simultaneously for speedy and quality job.
He stated that the project would be flagged off as soon as the 2025 was signed into law to enable Governor Idris fulfil his ambition of developing all sections of the state equally to justify the slogan of Kebbi the Land of Equity, commending the people of Zuru Emirate for their patience during the struggle to actualize the project.
The Commissioner said the myriad of road constructions across the length and breadth of the state, ultramodern Secretariat and Motor park, the provision of free fertilizers and assorted grains, CNG and Solar irrigation pumps to the people in the state clearly indicated the desire of the Governor to passionately develop Kebbi.
Engineer Faruk said with these and many developments in other aspects of the economy carefully tailored for societal growth visible to everybody, the best thing the opposition parties should do was to support Governor Idris Administration instead of spreading frivolous and unfounded criticisms capable of distorting the existing.
