Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has visited the proposed site for a new Government Residential Area (GRA) located near Kawara village at the South Eastern part of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Lands and Housing, Abubakar Ahmed told the Governor that the project spans 620 hectares and included 383 commercial plots and 2002 low-density residential plots with provisions for government and quasi-government offices, adding that about 100 plots were dedicated to such facilities.

He further stated that: “This is a mega project based on a cost-benefit analysis. The layout is expected to generate billions in revenue for the state government, while also facilitating economic and residential development.

‘It might please everybody here to know that the Ministry today invited His Excellency to inspect the site and assess the project for the new GRA in Birnin Kebbi. He has assured us of his commitment to evaluating the proposal,” he said.

Governor Idris, in his response, commended the foresight of the Ministry of Lands and Housing, describing the project as promising and beneficial to the people of Kebbi State and assured that the proposal would thoroughly be reviewed for further necessary action.

He said “I am satisfied with the inherent benefits derivable from the proposal as presented by the Permanent Secretary. The benefits include improved accessibility, increased housing opportunities, and enhanced government revenue as well as transforming Birnin Kebbi by opening up more accessible roads and enhancing the city’s infrastructure and housing sector.”
