Kebbi Igbo community confers traditional title on Governor’s wife, Nafisa Nasir

The Kebbi State Igbo community has on Thursday at the Igbo Hall in Birnin Kebbi honoured the wife of the Governor, Nafisa Nasir Idris with the traditional title ‘Nne di Igbo Mama’, meaning; Generally accepted mother of the Igbo in recognition of her consistent support to women and children in the state.
In her remarks, Hajiya Nafisa encouraged members of the Igbo community to continue feeling at home in Kebbi State, describing it as a land of equity where everyone is accepted, emphasizing that the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in the state would be sustained.
“Kebbi is a land of equity where everybody is accepted as friend and brother. Through my foundation, NANAS, we have lined up empowerment schemes to support the Igbo community, including widows and married women.”
She called for continued prayers and support for her husband, Governor Nasir Idris, expressing gratitude for the title, the Igbo cultural attire and bangles used for her investiture.
Chair lady of the Igbo Women Community Development Association, Mrs. Flora Nwafor, praised Hajiya Nafisa for her compassion and impact, saying the title symbolised her strength, resilience, and the benevolent work of her foundation.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Other Tribes, Mr. Osita Mgbeafuluba, lauded the efforts of Governor Nasir Idris in promoting infrastructural and socioeconomic development, assuring that the strong support from the Igbo community to his administration would continue.
“During last Christmas, the Governor provided a bag of rice to every Igbo widow in Kebbi. We, the Igbos, stand firmly behind him and support his continuation in office come 2027,” he said.
Also speaking, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, described the administration’s achievements as exceptional, citing the transformation of Birnin Kebbi into a modern city and the ongoing urban and rural development across the state as some of the few.
He added that the philanthropic work of the wife of the Governor through NANA’S Foundation has made a significant difference in the lives of women and children.
