Kebbi Governor Idris orders immediate reversal of illegal teachers September salary deductions

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has directed the Ministry of Education to immediately refund unapproved deductions from the September salary of Secondary school teachers.
The deductions were purportedly for the payment of professional certificates and licenses of the Teachers Registration Council, (TRC), for the teachers.
At a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi, on Saturday, Kebbi State NLC Chairman, Comrade Murtala Usman, informed journalists that Governor Idris, did not gave approval for the deductions and ordered an immediate reversal.
”The NLC received a complaint from the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, about such illegal deductions, which the Congress investigated from the Ministries of Finance and Education and found out to be true.
”We sought for an audience with Governor Idris who denied approving the salary deductions,
”The Governor ordered the immediate refund to the teachers and warned Ministries, Departments and Agencies against any form of deductions from workers’ salaries without his explicit permission,” Comrade Murtala said.
Kebbi Secretary of the NUT Comrade Kailani AbdulWasil thanked the governor for his prompt intervention, and ordering the refund of the total sum of N14 million to the teachers, deducted from their September salaries.
