A former Member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency of Plateau State, Hon. Solomon Bulus Maren, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as bold and transformative measures that have stabilised the economy, improved local government finances, and enhanced social development across the country.

Maren made this known during his official reception into the All Progressives Congress (APC) held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Mbar Community Centre, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The event drew a large crowd of supporters, party leaders, youth groups, and traditional rulers.

He said the President’s decision to remove fuel subsidy was a courageous step that exposed long-standing corruption in the system and freed national revenue for developmental use.

“The President’s policies have truly emancipated this country. The removal of oil subsidy exposed a scam that bled Nigeria for years. Before now, some local governments were owed up to 14 months of salaries because of the subsidy burden. Today, they can pay their workers and even embark on meaningful projects for their people,” Maren stated.

“Our economy is now more stable, driven by market forces rather than artificial manipulation. This is the kind of economy we need — one that aligns with global standards and secures our financial future,” he added.

Maren also commended President Tinubu for appointing Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the National Chairman of the APC, describing the gesture as an honour to Plateau State.

He assured that Plateau citizens will support both the President and the new leadership to consolidate unity and development.

“As Plateau people, we support our own. We will not abandon him. Professor Nentawe is intelligent, forthright, and committed to strengthening the APC both nationally and in Plateau State. We are here to support him as he works to build the party,” he said.

Also speaking, Hon. Ishaya Lalu, Member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said Maren’s return to the APC symbolises renewed confidence in the party and signals growing political strength in the zone.

“This means greatness, progress, and victory for our party. United we stand, divided we fall. At this point, we are becoming a formidable force,” Lalu said.

In his remarks, Brigadier General John Sura (Rtd) described the Tinubu administration as fair and inclusive, noting that it has shown genuine commitment to Plateau State through key appointments and developmental projects.

“There’s no administration in recent times that has been as fair and supportive to Plateau as this one,” he said, adding that Maren’s return to the APC represents a homecoming to national relevance and progress.

The ceremony was attended by party executives, serving and former political office holders, traditional leaders, women and youth groups, all pledging to work collectively for the success of the APC and the continued growth of Plateau State.
