Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Nafisa Nasir Idris, has donated 100 bags of rice and N1 million to the Igbo community to add joy to their Christmas celebration.

The items were received on behalf of the resident Igbos, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on other Tribes, Chief Osita Mgbeafuluba at the Igbo Unity Hall, in Birnin Kebbi, this Wednesday, which was filled to the brim by Igbo women and men.

Represented by her aide, Maryam Hassan Ka’oje, the Governor’s wife described the Igbos as highly enterprising with the spirit of economic development of the society.

“The Igbos are in my mind always, the administration of my husband will continue to improve their livelihood as well as other communities resident in Kebbi.

“The donation of rice and cash is to put smiles on the faces of the community members as they celebrate the Xmas with joy and pageantry”, Nafisa quipped.

In his response, Chief Osita Mgbeafuluba expressed immense joy and appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris and his wife Nafisa for their fatherly and motherly care to the Igbos in Kebbi.

“We are overwhelmed with delight by the benevolence of Governor Idris; no government has been gracious and compassionate to the Christian Igbo community in Kebbi like the administration.

“Last year, Governor Nasir Idris donated N50 million to the Igbos in Kebbi, and today, his wife Nafisa has consolidated on such kind gesture by donating 100 bags of rice and N1 million to us for the Yuletide.

“This is the reason we bestowed the traditional title of the ‘Mother of Igbos’ on Nafisa Nasir Idris.

“Governor Idris has also ensured the protection of lives and property of the Igbos in the state, our people are living in peace with their host community while our property is safe and secured.

“We shall sustain support to the Governor in all ramifications to extend his tenure to another term in office to continue to uplift the wellbeing of the citizenry”, Mgbeafuluba assured.
