Kebbi to restore water supply after main pipe burst in Birnin kebbi

Kebbi State Government has constituted a Task Force to restore water supply to Birnin Kebbi, the capital, after a major pipe burst at the Dukku Water Works.
The Secretary to the Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, informed newsmen at the site, that the problem was brought under control after the overflow of water in Dukku that led to the disruption of supply to Birnin Kebbi.
“Consequently, Governor Nasir Idris constituted a Task Force and mandated the members to relocate to the water works to ensure quick rectification. I am eading the team while the Commissioners for Information, Home Security as well as Water Resources as members”, Tafida explained.
He further ststed that: “The Governor Nasir Idris hs directed us to remain at the water works until the machinery becomes functional and normality is restored, the water works has modern effective equipment.
“The Governor reassures residence about the untiring efforts of his administration to the provision of good water supply to the populace”.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Isa Arzika Gwandu, and the General Manager of the Water Board, Engr. Zayyanu Shehu, gave detailed information about the system failure arising from the burst pipe.
“We’ve been able to control overflow of water and salvaged the facilities which are in good shape, water supply will be restored within days”, they assured.
