The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerian households to embrace home gardening and support sustainable agriculture as a pathway to healthier living and stronger families.

Mrs. Soludo made the call on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, after harvesting a large quantity of maize from her Healthy Living Farm in Awka.

Speaking after the harvest, she described the experience as a reminder that healthy living begins with the everyday choices people make. She noted that the maize was produced through organic, non-GMO farming practices, which align with the values she has consistently promoted.

“We had the joy of harvesting lots of maize from our Healthy Living Farm; a simple but meaningful reminder that Healthy Living begins with the choices we make every day,” she said.

According to her, the harvest reflects the benefits of consuming fresh, natural foods while adopting lifestyles that promote personal well-being and environmental sustainability.

“For us, Healthy Living isn’t just a message to be shared; it’s a way of life to be lived dutifully,” she added.

Mrs. Soludo stressed that growing food at home and choosing naturally cultivated produce are important steps toward building healthier families and communities.

“I believe that when we grow what we eat and choose wholesome, naturally cultivated foods, we invest in stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future for our children. Every harvest tells a story of patience, consistency, and the rewards of making the right choices,” she said.

She further encouraged Nigerians to cultivate home gardens and support sustainable agricultural practices in any way they can, noting that such efforts would help promote healthy eating and reconnect people with nature.

“I encourage every household to embrace home gardening and support sustainable agriculture in whatever way possible. By doing what’s right, we can rediscover the richness of nature, promote healthy eating, and build a culture where good health starts from our farms and finds its way to every table,” she said.

Mrs. Soludo concluded by reaffirming that healthy living is achievable through conscious daily habits.

“Healthy Living is very possible, and it begins with each of us. Make it a vital habit today,” she urged.
