Ex-lawmaker Bamidele shot at Ekiti APC rally
A former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and one other person were on Friday shot at the Ekiti State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ado-Ekiti by yet to be identified gunman during a governorship rally.
Bamidele was among the entourage of the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and Prince Dayo Adeyeye, a former Minister of Works emerging from the entrance of the secretariat when the policeman started shooting sporadically.
It was gathered that the former lawmaker was swiftly taken to the hospital while the other victim laid still on the ground.
Thereafter, the man was overpowered by the crowd and nearly lynched before he was rescued and taken into custody.
The Ekiti State APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, explained that the gunman shot at Fayemi but missed.
