Imo Governor graces Thanksgiving Mass in honour of late Matriarch of Opara family

Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, joined prominent Nigerian leaders, clergymen, family members and well-wishers at the thanksgiving service held in honour of the Late Chief Christiana Opara, JP, mother of Prof. John Kennedy Opara, pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) and the Chairman of CSS Global Integrated Farms Ltd.

The thanksgiving and outing service took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Umuopara Obetiti, Nguru Mbaise, in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The No 1 citizen of Imo state read the second Bible lesson at the Thanksgiving Mass taken from Romans Chapter 9 verses 1– 5 themed: ” I would willingly be condemned if it would help my brother”.

The service celebrated the life and legacy of the 83-year-old matriarch, who was remembered for her values, faith and contributions to her family and community.

Governor Uzodimma’s presence underscored his solidarity with Prof. Opara and the bereaved family as they gave thanks for the life of their beloved mother.
The Executive Governor of Imo state was accompanied by his deputy, Dr.Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, the Chaplain Government House Chapel Owerri, Rev Fr. Dr Gilbert Alaribe, and other government functionaries.
Late Chief Christiana Opara JP passed on to eternal glory on 7th May, 2026 in Abuja , a requiem Mass in her honour was held on 29th July, 2026 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama Abuja while her final interment took place on 7th August at Umuopara Nguru Obetti Aboh Mbaise, Imo state.
