Kebbi improves renewable energy for socio-economic development

Kebbi State Government has incorporated solar power as major component of energy to accelerate industrial and economic development of the state with the installation of a Solar Power Station at Ambursa, designed to provide 20 hours of uninterrupted electricity supply daily to surrounding communities.

Speaking to Journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner for Transport and Renewable Energy, Bala Muhammad Gagga, further stated that Governor Nasir Idris placed premium on improving the purchasing power of the populace through the provision of accessible energy for socioeconomic development.

“We were in Kano to understudy the operation and maintenance of this solar system because Kano started the process before us. We are even more advantageous because in addition to regular sunlight, the state is endowed with numerous water bodies that can serve as source of power

“Governor Idris is vigorously transforming the health sector and has rehabilitated the 225 Primary Health Centres across the state with the priority providing these rural hospitals with the requisite electricity supply to their cold rooms for the storage of drugs and vaccines”, Gagga narrated.

The Commissioner gave a pass mark to the operations and management of the new 50 eighteen-seat shuttle buses purchased by Governor Idris to ease the transport difficulties of commuters.

He added by saying: “In furtherance of improving road transport, the Governor procured the vehicles traversing all the 21 local government areas of Kebbi at 30% discount rate to ease the movement of people from one place to another.

“The vehicles are operating under the Kebbi State Transport Authority, and have maintained standard regulations for commuting.

“In addition, the government has purchased 5,000 lifejackets for use in marine transport by passengers to minimise casualties in cases of mishaps”.

Gagga however appealed to the people of Kebbi to sustain support, loyalty and respect to Governor Nasir Idris, by giving him their massive votes in the 2027 elections to consolidate on the achievements already on ground of uplifting the living condition of all communities.
