Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed relief and gratitude following the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were recently abducted, describing their return as “worthy of thanksgiving.”
In a statement issued on Saturday, Obi commended the security personnel and all individuals whose dedication and coordinated efforts led to the successful rescue of the children.
“I am greatly relieved and delighted to learn of the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were kidnapped. I sincerely thank all those whose tireless efforts made their freedom possible, especially the security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes,” he said.
While celebrating the children’s safe return, Obi noted that the recurring abduction of schoolchildren remains a serious national security challenge that requires urgent and decisive action.
He stressed that no child should endure the trauma of kidnapping and urged governments at all levels to strengthen the nation’s security architecture, emphasizing that protecting lives and property must remain a top priority.
Obi further stated that every Nigerian child deserves access to education in a safe and secure environment, free from fear, violence, and the threat of abduction. He called for sustained efforts to create a nation where children can pursue their education without intimidation or insecurity.
He also congratulated the rescued children, their families, their schools, and Nigerians at large, describing the successful rescue as a reassuring reminder that collective commitment, effective security measures, and national cooperation can deliver positive outcomes.
