Anambra intensifies rehabilitation of mentally-challenged persons

In line with the resolve of the wife of Anambra State Governor, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, to rid the streets of mentally challenged people, the government has started the exercise.
As such, the state Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, has embarked on relocation of mentally challenged people from streets to rehabilitation centers across the state.
The relocation team, led by Mr Onyebuchi Aniedozie, has succeeded in rounding-up a number of the mentally-challenged people from some major streets in the Awka, the state capital.
The commissioner stated that the mentally-challenged people that were picked and carefully relocated to Rehabilitation Home at Nteje for treatment.
Apex News gathered that they will be handed over to their family members once they are medically certified healthy.
