Senator Lalong congratulates Pwaspo, Pam, others on reelection, commends NUJ leadership
Senator Lalong expressed delight that the leadership team was largely returned to office by members of the Union, describing the development as a strong vote of confidence in their leadership, performance and commitment to advancing the interests of journalists in the State.
He said the re-election was a vindication of the efforts of the team in deepening the fortunes of the journalism profession, promoting professionalism and strengthening the NUJ as a credible platform for journalists to contribute meaningfully to the development of Plateau State and the nation.
Lalong, who has maintained a longstanding relationship with the media, recalled that he has consistently supported and partnered with journalists and the NUJ throughout his political career, first as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, later as Governor of the State and now as Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District.
He said the media remains an indispensable pillar of democracy and governance, stressing that a vibrant, responsible and professional press is essential to promoting accountability, good governance and peaceful coexistence.
The former Governor congratulated Comrade Ayuku Pwaspo, Comrade Musa Pam and the entire Executive on their successful re-election, urging them to see their renewed mandate as an opportunity to build on their achievements, unite members and further improve the welfare and professional standing of journalists in Plateau State.
Senator Lalong assured the NUJ leadership of his continued friendship, support and partnership, while wishing them wisdom, courage and success as they commence another term of service to the Union and the journalism profession.
