Ahead of the governorship primary election of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), an aspirant from the Southern part of Kaduna State, Sen. Danjuma Tella Laah, has pledged to unite the people of the state across ethnic and religious divides if elected governor in the 2027 election.
Laah also promised to prioritise agriculture by creating a modern and supportive environment for farmers to increase food production and improve their livelihoods.
He made the promises in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area, after a strategic meeting with the party’s structures in southern part of the state.
Southern Kaduna comprises eight local government areas; Sanga, Jema’a, Jaba, Kaura, Kauru, Kachia, Kagarko and Zangon Kataf local government areas, with party chairmen, secretaries, state and national assembly aspirants, as well as youth leaders and women leaders are in attendance.
The governorship aspirant said unity would be central to his administration, stressing that a peaceful and united Kaduna would be better positioned to achieve meaningful development.
“With unity, all developments are possible,” he said, adding that his administration would seek to bring the people together irrespective of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
On agriculture, Laah said Kaduna had enormous potential to become a major food-producing hub capable of supplying agricultural produce to other states in the country.
He pledged to support farmers with modern farming systems and the necessary assistance to boost productivity, improve livelihoods and strengthen the state’s agricultural sector.
Laah also urged party leaders and members across the eight local government areas in Zone 3 to remain united and committed as the party prepares for its governorship primary and the 2027 general election.
