66 independence anniversary: NCDC celebrates Nigeria, reaffirms commitment to transforming North Central region
The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has congratulated President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians across the country on the occasion of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, describing the milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s journey, consolidate its achievements and renew its commitment to building a more prosperous future
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, in a message on behalf of the Governing Board, Management and Staff of the NCDC, said the 66th Independence Anniversary is a historic occasion for Nigerians to reaffirm their commitment to the values, ideals and aspirations upon which the nation was founded.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, NCDC’s Head of Media and Corporate Communications.
Dr. Tsenyil paid tribute to the founding fathers of the nation, as well as past leaders who made significant sacrifices and served in various capacities to promote the unity, peace and development of Nigeria despite the challenges confronting the country at different periods.
He expressed confidence that the resilience, faith and determination of Nigerians would continue to drive the country forward, stressing that the collective efforts and aspirations of citizens would ultimately enable Nigeria to overcome its challenges and attain its rightful place among the leading nations of the world.
The NCDC Chief Executive also expressed confidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, particularly the establishment of Regional Development Commissions, including the NCDC, would accelerate development across the country through a more coordinated and regionally responsive approach.

He said the NCDC remains committed to transforming the North Central region by unlocking its vast untapped potential across critical sectors, including agriculture, education, industrialisation, mineral development, economic integration, youth development and entrepreneurship, among others.
Dr. Tsenyil urged citizens and stakeholders across the North Central region to embrace and actively participate in the implementation of the Commission’s 20-Year Strategic Development Plan, recently unveiled at the inaugural NCDC Stakeholders Development Summit in Abuja, where it received broad endorsement from key stakeholders within and outside the region.
According to him, the plan provides a strategic framework for sustainable economic, infrastructural and social transformation of the North Central region and will require the collective commitment and participation of governments, the private sector, development partners, traditional institutions, communities and other stakeholders.
Dr. Tsenyil wished Nigerians, particularly citizens of the North Central region, a peaceful and memorable 66th Independence Anniversary, while praying for greater peace, unity, security and prosperity for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
