Mass defection: Kebbi South ADC leadership join APC, Pledge support for Governor Idris’ 2027 reelection bid
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kebbi State Chapter, on tuesday received a large number of defectors from the Advance Democratic Congress (ADC) across the seven Local Government Areas of Kebbi South.
The defectors include executive committee members of ADC in Yauri, Shanga, and Ngaski Local Government Areas of Yauri Emirate, coordinators of the ADC Senatorial candidate in Zuru, Sakaba, Fakai and Danko/Wasagu Local Government Areas of Zuru Emirate, as well as the House of Representatives candidate for Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency, Engineer Sa’adu Salihu Yauri.
This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor.
Presenting the defectors at the Kebbi State Government House, the leader of the group said the decision to leave ADC was necessitated by a lack of credibility and sincerity of purpose among the leadership and stakeholders of the party in the state.
He declared their total allegiance to the APC and pledged unflinching support for the continuity of Comrade Governor Nasir Idris in 2027.
Also speaking, the spokesperson of the Zuru Emirate defectors, Alhaji Bello Doya, stated that coordinators of Senator Garba Musa Maidoki collectively resigned their appointments with ADC. He noted that despite Senator Maidoki’s defection from APC to ADC and emergence as the party’s senatorial candidate, his performance and capacity to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Kebbi South remained poor.
Alhaji Doya assured the APC leadership of their loyalty and total support for Governor Nasir Idris’ second term bid, citing the governor’s remarkable achievements in Zuru Emirate.
These include
Reconstruction of the abandoned Koko-Zuru Federal road,
establishment of a Mega Secondary School
Renovation, upgrade, and construction of new healthcare delivery centres in 10 communities across Zuru Emirate.
He further commended the governor for his exemplary leadership, generosity, fairness, and commitment to justice in managing the multi-ethnic and multi-religious nature of Zuru Emirate.
In his response, Governor Nasir Idris, along with the state acting chairman of the party chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adamu Mudi Augie, received the defectors to the party. He assured them of equal rights, opportunities, and a level playing field as bonafide members of the APC family in Kebbi State.
The APC, Kebbi State Chapter, describes this mass movement as a clear endorsement of the people-oriented policies and developmental strides of the Comrade Governor Nasir Idris-led administration.
It could be recalled that Senator Maidoki alleged to have displayed acts of immaturity, unproductivity, and insensitivity to the plight of his constituents. He resigned from the All Progressive Congress (APC) and joined the Advance Democratic Party, allegedly due to frustration resulting from a growing disconnect with his constituents as a result of glaring failure, as representative. representative.
The state chapter had earlier described his resignation from the party as a good omen in view of his being a political liability.
