Governor Lalong of Plateau State

Plateau state government has disclosed that the federal government is owing it over N10bn it expended on federal road repairs across the state over years.
Commissioner of information and communication, Dan Manjang said this while explaining the delay in completing ongoing projects in the state.
He was speaking with newsmen at the weekend during the last lap of a facility tour of projects in the 17 local government areas of the state being undertaking by the government in Jos.
The commissioner added that though the state government does not intend to abandon any of its projects before the expiration of tenure, he further emphasised that the N10bn when paid back would go a long way to complementing its infrastructures and also initiating new ones in line with its “rescue mission.”
Commenting on the rate of crime especially in Jos, the capital city; the commissioner said crime rate has dropped becaus of the street lights at night.
He said the government was planning to put street lights from the city centre down to the Yakubu Gowon airport in Heipang; about 40km away from Jos.
As a result, the government is expanding N2.6bn for this purpose which the first phase has since been completed.
The tour took reporters to the northern senatorial zone of the state which comprises of Jos south and north; Jos East, Bassa, Riyom and Barkin Ladi respectively.
