Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman has commended the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad for building a befitting Hajj Camp in the State.
Delivering a goodwill message during the commissioning of the Hajj Camp by Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Speaker said that the Camp is one of the legacy projects of Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad which will help in the smooth preparations of Hajj operations and as well provide maximum protection and comfort to our dear pilgrims before and after performing pilgrimage.
Describing the project as deeply thought well timed, strategically situated and fantastically executed, Speaker Abubakar Suleiman said he more proud of the Governor for erecting the magnificent and beautiful edifice, despite financial constraints faced by the State, for the smooth Hajj operations.
The Speaker said that, “With the transformation of Bauchi State into the Hub of the North-East Geo-Political Zone by the present administration, some of our neighboring states will also make best use of this modern facility” .
He also said that, “Islam is built on five pillars which Hajj is one. We know the importance of Hajj to any capable believer. Now Kauran Bauchi has provided this befitting Hajj camp so that all citizens of the State will have conducive atmosphere in performing this obligation”.
“I call on the Bauchi State Pilgrims welfare Board to jealousy guard and protect this facility from damage. This is considering the importance and the huge amount spent in its construction and furnishing”, the Speaker further said.
Abubakar Suleiman added that, “I would also like to suggest, for proper maintenance of the edifice, some of the facilities be allowed for commercial purposes by only reputable organizations such as Governments, International NGO’s/Donor Agencies etc who may want to use the Conference Hall and other facilities in the Camp for their meetings and other activities, this I believe will sustain the beauty of the edifice and further improve our internal revenue.”
The Speaker also re-assured the Governor and the people of Bauchi State that the State Assembly who are partners in the Progress and development of Bauchi State, regardless of political differences, will continue to support and cooperate with the Executive Governor for the growth and development of the State.
He then advised that the structure should be put to effective and commercial use to serve as a revenue source for the state as contained in a statement by Abdul Ahmad Burra, Spokesperson to the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly.
