Bauchi Governor renews commitment to full, effective implementation of MoU with UNICEF

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has assured UNICEF of the unflinching commitment of the state government to provide it with conducive working environment for  full implementation of all its humanitarian programmes in the state. 

The governor made the commitment at an interactive session with the UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria, Cristian Munduate held at the Council Chambers, Government House, Bauchi. 

Bala Mohammed said that his administration has since worked out modalities of ensuring effective implementation of all the Memorandum of Understandings signed between the state government and the UNICEF for the benefit of the state and its people. 

He also said that with the support of UNICEF, the state government is performing in line with international best practices in the implementation of social protection programmes of the state particularly in the provision of healthcare services and education delivery especially at the grassroots.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Bauchi, we are delighted to welcome you to Bauchi where you have us as a genuine partners. UNICEF has done so much to Bauchi State through its programmes on education, healthcare, nutrition and WASH which have contributed positively towards improving the lives of the citizens of the state.

“In Bauchi we didn’t joke with UNICEF and therefore we are ever ready to implement any program brought to us by UNICEF and all the global organisations. 

The Governor at the interactive session told the UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria that his administration with the support of partners in healthcare delivery has constructed and renovated hundreds of healthcare centres, and called for more support to the state in order to achieve the desired objectives. 

On her part, the UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria, Cristian Munduate said that the visit is to look at the possibility of strengthen UNICEF’s partnership with the state government for possible improvement in the implementation of its programmes in the state. 

Cristian Munduate assured the governor that UNICEF will continue to assist his administration to provide citizens with the basic services especially healthcare , education and nutrition for the benefit of women and children.
