The 19th Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) formally gets under way Monday with the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu describing the fair as designed to serve as a hub for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and networking.
He also noted the fair is geared towards bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts, aimed to chart a path toward a more innovative, efficient, and sustainable future in mobility while also addressing critical issues such as access to financing and the complexities of taxation.
According to him, this year’s edition of the AITF will feature over 500 exhibitors from various sectors, showcasing more than 10,000 products, solutions, and services to nearly 100,000 attendees over 12 days.
He said over the years, the AITF has established itself as a premier multi-sectoral event in Nigeria, growing both in scope and influence.
Chief Obegolu pointed out that the trade fair remains one of the largest trade platforms in Africa, offering domestic and international exhibitors the opportunity to showcase new products, access emerging markets, build business relationships, and gain insights into evolving industry trends.
On this year’s fair theme, “Mobility: Options for Transportation, Trade Financing, and Taxation,” the President said it addresses key drivers of business growth.
He said as the global emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations grows, this year’s Fair will also spotlight products and solutions from sectors such as fintech, sustainable transportation, food processing, and environmental safety.
“The ACCI remains committed to improving the quality and standards of trade events in Nigeria. Over the years, we have invested in infrastructure and expertise to ensure our events align with global best practices. The successes of previous editions have laid the foundation for an even more impactful fair this year,” Chief Obegolu.
In his goodwill message, National President, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Hon. Dele Kelvin Oye, said the Abuja International Trade Fair has become a significant fixture on its business calendar, consistently providing an invaluable platform for promoting trade and innovation, not just within the FCT but nationally and internationally as well.
Hon. Oye pointed out that the Trade Fair also stands as a beacon of progress and resilience and underscores the importance of creating robust ecosystems that promote trade, drive innovation, and support the long-term growth of Nigeria’s economy.
As a leading member of the Organised Private Sector of Nigeria (OPSN), he said, NACCIMA supports events such as the trade fair which aims to bring together different stakeholders from all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The trade fair actually started on Friday September 20 and will come to a close on October 1, 2024.
