Adamawa PDP Governorship candidate reacts to inconclusive election


Fintiri, Adamawa State PDP governorship candidate 
The gubernatorial candidate of PDP in Adamawa, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, has reacted to the inconclusive governorship election in the state with a call on his supporters to remain calm.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), recalls that the Returning Officer for Adamawa Governorship election, Prof. Andrew Haruna, had declared the election as inconclusive because the number of votes cancelled in 44 polling units was higher than the margin of lead votes between the two leading contestants.
Haruna said that a new date for the rerun election would be announced soon.
Speaking to newsmen on Monday in Yola, Fintiri, who had the highest vote of 367, 472 votes against Gov. Bindow of APC’ s 334,995 votes, urged his supporters to remain calm and steadfast as victory was on sight.
Fintiri thanked the electorates for turning out enmasse to participate in the election, adding that he was sure of victory.
“I want to thank the good people of this state for coming out to exercise their franchise. I also urge them to do same in the supplementary election.
“They should demonstrate the same zeal and commitment to vote for PDP as we are already cruising to victory,” Fintiri said.
The PDP candidates lauded all stakeholders, particularly INEC and security agencies, fo
r their efforts in ensuring a hitch free exercise.
Also reacting to the election, the APC National Vice Chairman for North East, Alhaji Salihu Mustafa, who served as his party agent at the Collation Centre, said that APC was not satisfied with the election.
Mustafa alleged that there were irregularities and violence against APC members in some areas.
“One of our agent was killed in Hong Local Government, while our agents were chased away in some polling units in Demsa local government,” Mustafa fumed. (NAN)
