All set for 8th CNS swimming championship, says NAF scribe
All is set for the take-off of the 8th Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Swimming Championships, an annual event, which held last in 2016 due to inadequate funding as it has secured more sponsorship.
The Secretary-General, Nigeria Aquatic Federation (NAF), Muhammed Sani, who made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja, said the Lagos State Government was ready to complement the Nigerian Navy’s donation of N10 million for the annual event.
“The Lagos State Government has graciously offered to host the next edition of CNS championships so that swimming can continue to develop in the country.
“That will go a long way in complementing the N10 million annual support from the Navy for the national championships. We thank Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, for the Navy’s consistent support,” he said.
The federation’s scribe said organising the competition consistently would help to harness the country’s swimming potential and brighten the chances for its international greatness in the sport.
NAN reports that the federation, led by Babatunde Fatai-Williams as President, has scheduled meetings with the Lagos State Government and other sponsors ahead of the championships.
NAN also reports that the 7th edition of the competition was held in Lagos where top swimmers from states of the federation competed for honours. (NAN)
