Anambra business community asked to key into Obiano's CCTV initiative

The organized private sector has been urged to key into the state Government close circuit television surveillance security initiative to further enhance security infrastructure across the state.
Speaking in Awka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Mr. Ostar Christopher said Governor Obiano’s administration is taking security to higher level by deploying technical components as is the practice in developed economies.
Mr. Christopher explained that gradual introduction of the equipment and facilities in major markets would help human security manpower to maintain twenty four hour security to protect lives and property as well as discourage criminal tendencies in individuals and groups.
He called on business establishments including filling stations, industries, companies, super markets, individuals and others to compliment state government’s efforts by installing CCTV in their premises to boost security in their areas.
The Senior Special Assistant, who noted that Governor Obiano adopts holistic approach in tackling Security challenges, observed that the ban on Okada operations in Awka and Onitsha is yielding the desired dividends as all forms of crime including bag and phone snatching have been totally eliminated while business environment has improved.
Mr. Christopher urged communities to remain vigilant and report any strange person or situation promptly to security agencies for immediate response.
Also speaking, a trader, Chief Edmond Onyeachonam said the tempo of trade has continued to rise because of conducive business atmosphere across the state.
Chief Onyeachonam urged the state Government to maintain the fight against illegal revenue collectors.
