Anambra head of service reassures workers, pensioners of brighter prospects

The Anambra State Head of Service, (HOS) Barrister Harry Udu, has reassured workers and pensioners in the state of their welfare.
Barrister Udu gave the assurance while addressing the Nigerian Union of Public Service, Reportorial, Secretarial and Data Processors allied Staff, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat complex in Awka.
Barrister Udu said that the state government had taken interest of workers and pensioners as top priority and first charge.
He added that the governor has initiated plans to review workers’ salary and they are at the point of transition from the old system of pension scheme to contributory system.
The HOS emphasised that the contributory pension system has made it less stressful for pensioners to receive their pensions a few months after retirement.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano’s administration as it was determined to pilot affairs of the state workforce in the right direction and urged workers to put in their best in order to take the state to enviable height.
Mr. Udu lauded the Union for their support towards the upliftment of workers’ welfare and assured of government’s support to the Union.
Chairperson of the Union, Mrs. Pauline Isaac, said the movement was a group of people with common interest for the purpose of promoting welfare of the entire workers.
Mrs. Isaac said the aim of their visit was to ensure that the welfare of workers were guaranteed; and commended the state government for taking care of the state’s workforce.
